Who should take home the awards in the 2019 PFA Player of the Year? The PFA’s took place at the prestigious Grosvenor House Hotel in London from 9pm BST on Sunday 28th April 2019.
There were four awards being contested – Men’s Player of the Year 2019, Men’s Young Player of the Year 2019, Women’s Player of the Year 2019 and Women’s Young Player of the Year 2019.

For the PFA Men’s Player of the Year 2019, six players were up for this award – Sergio Aguero, Virgil van Dijk, Eden Hazard, Sadio Mane, Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling. The distinct favourites were Man City’s Raheem Sterling and Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk. Sterling has scored 17 goals so far this season in the Premier League, whereas van Dijk has helped Liverpool to 19 clean sheets, the most in the Premier League this season.
For the PFA Men’s Young Player of the Year 2019, there were again six players nominated – Trent Alexander-Arnold, David Brooks, Marcus Rashford, Declan Rice, and once again Bernardo Silva and Raheem Sterling. Marcus Rashford’s form under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was brilliant to begin with and he has scored his most goals in a single Premier League season, but Raheem Sterling was the favourite to win the award.
The Women’s PFA Player of the Year 2019 was heavily contested this season with Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert, Manchester City’s Keira Walsh, Steph Houghton & Nikita Parris, Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema and Chelsea’s Ji So-Yun all up for the award. Manchester City finished 2nd in the Women’s Super League this season and have three players up for the award. The Women’s Young Player of the Year award featured as nominees Bristol City’s Sophie Baggaley, Chelsea’s Erin Cuthbert, West Ham United’s Alisha Lehmann, Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema, and Manchester City’s Georgia Stanway and Keira Walsh.
